The Better Go Button

Hi. I’m Alex and I invented the Better Go Button.

Why did I need a better way to go?

It all started when I was running lighting console for a show on Broadway.

Picture it: there I was in the booth, facing the stage, but the console was set up over to the side.

If you’ve ever been in that situation, you know… my neck took a beating during that run.

But the pain got me thinking. Is there a way to hit every cue and still be free to move around the booth comfortably?

Turns out there is.

A lot of research and 10 prototypes later, I created the solution that I now use every time I’m taking light cues in the theater. Including the night I programmed at Radio City for the biggest presidential campaign fundraiser in history.

Never thought I’d have the Secret Service rummaging through my lighting equipment…

All in a day’s work, right?

But, yeah, the Better Go Button. It’s pretty cool. You should try it.

As a New York based lighting designer and moving light programmer with more than 15 years of experience, I’ve served on many Broadway productions both in New York and on national and international tours, including MJ the Musical, Almost Famous, Mr. Saturday Night, Springsteen on Broadway, West Side Story, Ain’t Too Proud, Pretty Woman, Hello Dolly, Cats, and many, many more.

Renowned lighting designers I have the honor to collaborate with frequently include Kevin Adams, Ken Billington, Howell Binkley, Jeff Croiter, Donald Holder, and Natasha Katz, among others.

In addition to theater, I’ve also worked on concerts, television shows, live events and architectural installations.

When I’m not working on a production, I enjoy passing on my knowledge through teaching programming classes for ETC.

And in my rare moments of spare time (the ones not devoted to my beautiful wife, Sammy, and our toddler son, Leo), I love to tinker and develop products that make my job (and maybe yours) more streamlined and fun!
